Darren will cover strategies for effectively ​communicating fee changes to clients and tailoring fees to fit regional and demographic factors. Bio

Darren Osborne is the Director of Economic Research for the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) ​and Economic Consultant for the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, and Canadian Veterinary Medical ​Association. Darren conducts economic research and analyzes data to provide thousands of veterinarians with ​Fee Guides, Economic Reports, Personal Benchmark Reports, Reports on Compensation and Benefits for ​Associate Veterinarians and Non-DVM Wage Reports. He has been working with veterinarians and practice ​managers within VMG groups for several years. Darrenattended York University and completed his Master's ​Degree in Economics in 1992. When he is not crunching numbers, you can find Darren playing a guitar, running, ​swimming, fishing, or golfing.

Dr. Caitlin DeWilde is the founder of The Social DVM, a consulting firm helping veterinary professionals learn how to manage and grow their social media, online reputation and marketing strategies. She earned her DVM from the University of Illinois and is a recipient of their Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Before stepping back to focus on her marketing passion, she served as medical director for a large hospital in St. Louis. Today, she divides her time between practice, consulting, and writing. She is the author of the “Social Media and Marketing for Veterinary Professionals” textbook and a columnist for Today’s Veterinary Business.

In this session, we will introduce you to the Veterinary Leaders Advisory Board (VLAB), their mission and ​introduce its members, setting the stage for a comprehensive discussion on industry trends and strategic ​initiatives. Highlighting key trends from the AVMA Economic Report, we will examine the industry's shift away ​from non-competes and the increasing demand for mentorship among new DVMs. Additionally, we will ​explore Encore Vet Group's robust University Relations efforts and the impactful outreach led by Dr. Tim ​Loonam, emphasizing our commitment to externship opportunities. Finally, we will discuss the significant ​implications of the 12 new distributive model veterinary schools set to open by 2029, focusing on how Encore ​plans to leverage these developments to create pipelines and foster strong relationships within the veterinary ​community.
